Active Chilled Beam for Armstrong TechZone™ Ceiling System

11/02/2010

TROX USA has introduced the specially designed DID301-US-TZ and DID302-US-TZ active chilled beams which have been reconfigured for Armstrong® TechZone™ Ceiling Systems.

The Armstrong TechZoneCeiling System organizes chilled beams, lighting,

diffusers and sprinklers in a narrow “technical zone”

TROX USA, Inc has announced that it has partnered with Armstrong Ceiling & Wall Systems to produce chilled beams that are pre-qualified for fit and finish in the Armstrong TechZone™ Ceiling System.   Based in Cumming, GA, TROX USA is the country’s market leader in the application of chilled beam technology.

TechZone is the industry’s first ceiling system that organizes lighting fixtures, air diffusers, sprinkler heads, and chilled beams in a narrow “technical zone” to create an uncluttered ceiling visual.  The technical zone can also accommodate continuous linear lighting and air diffusers for even more of a clean, uninterrupted look.

The totally integrated acoustical ceiling system uses only standard components, while delivering the desired quantity and quality of light and air into the space.  It is especially appropriate for use in large expanses and open areas that require superior acoustic performance.

System Imparts Clean, Custom Look to Space

By partnering with TROX USA, the nation’s leading chilled beam manufacturer, Armstrong is able to provide an engineered, easy-to-specify ceiling system that uses standard components but imparts a clean, custom look to the space, without the long lead times and cost often associated with custom materials to achieve the same look.

“We look forward to a successful business relationship with Armstrong TechZone Ceilings,” states Chris Lawrence, CEO and President of TROX USA. “By combining two leading technologies, TROX active chilled beams and the Armstrong TechZone Ceiling System, we can offer customers both high performance and aesthetics.

“Architects and engineers can now create a custom-look ceiling that incorporates the energy saving and performance benefits of our specially designed TROX chilled beams for Armstrong.  Both systems offer quality, reduced maintenance, affordability and ease of design,” he adds.

TechZone System Eliminates Ceiling Penetrations

The TechZone system eliminates the need for penetrations in the ceiling panels, making them more aesthetically pleasing and easier to install.  Maintenance hassles and panel damage are also limited since all services are housed in the technical zone.

In addition, all ceiling panels, technical panels, light fixtures, and air diffusers are available in lay-in and tegular versions to ensure that all components align precisely for a uniform visual.  The linear technical zones also coordinate visually with the look of Armstrong Optima® and Ultima® fine textured ceiling panels.

In terms of sustainability, the combination of TechZone and High Light Reflectance Optima or Ultima ceiling panels can contribute to LEED® points for recycled content, daylighting and energy consumption.  Also, by incorporating TROX chilled beams into high-performance HVAC operational plans, a project’s LEED rating can be further enhanced.
