In 2009, South Education Center opened in Richfield, Minnesota and was quickly awarded numerous energy efficiency awards and was recognized as LEED Certified in 2010. The building was specially designed to serve the special needs students of Independent School District 287 and every effort was made to not only provide an innovative and dynamic education, but to provide that education in a building that was worry-free and a model for energy-efficiency and sustainability in the district and state-wide. TROX chilled beam systems were installed as part of the building's mechanical system to reduce energy and provide better indoor air quality with its QLCI displacement chilled beam in classrooms and DID302 overhead chilled beams in other areas of the building for cooling and heating.
